NEW from Russian River RR Co On30/On3 2 Stall Stone Enginehouse A Short History Thanks for checking out my new kit. Russian River RR Co. began in 1979, manufacturing a number of quality On3 craftsman freight car kits. Back in those days, On3 kits were very spartan... a bundle of sticks, some wire, and a Zamac brake cylinder casting. No trucks, no couplers. Kinda disappointing. I felt I could produce a better kit, with greater detail for less money. The very first kit was a 30' flatcar, and include not only the basswood and wire parts, but also all the Grandt Line brake set parts AND trucks as well, all for less than $19. It was followed by two gondolas, a boxcar, reefer, stockcar, tankcar and caboose. Russian River kits were available for nearly 25 years at many quality hobby shops. With the advent of Bachmann's ready-to run On30 cars, the desire for craftsman kits began to decline and the line was discontinued in 2005. Some of these still show up on Ebay from time to time. After modeling in On3 for years, I, too, became hooked on On30. In 2005, I was commissioned to build a small On30 logging layout for a client in Florida,. It required a small engine house for a number of Bachmann geared locos and the two-stall kit you see here was hatched. With the help and encouragement of fellow modeler, Mark Ballschmieder of A.I.M Products, aimprodx.com, I designed this structure with a number of unique features:First, the 4 large windows and 3 sets of doors, as well as a clerestory, allow for maximum view of interior detailing. Second, the interior walls needed to reflect the level of detail that a modeler would add, so we designed them to include all the stonework as well. Third, the detailed cast floor base is reversible, allowing the builder to locate the run-thru stall on either side. A separate cast inspection pit is also included. The footprint is 9 ½'W x 12 ½'L and the track centers are 4 ¾'. All the Bachmann locos fit nicely, with a little extra room for some Western Scale models machines. On top of everything, we included all quality Grandt Line castings...windows, doors, and engine house stacks. Rusty Stumps provided the corrugated roofing and Midwest provided the lumber. In addition to the straightforward instruction book, Mark B. has provided a sampling of AIM's washes and weathering powders. For a limited time, I am also including a number of resin detail castings from the Russian River RR Co. The On30/On3 2 Stall Stone Enginehouse is only available directly for me and yours is ready to ship now for only $185.00 plus shipping. Only 200 kits will be made so don't delay.
